Korea. The remains of a Korean meal eaten between 20 people at a restaurant in Kyongju. Rice, being mainly an agricultural country, is the staple food and is used to accompany every meal. It is supplemented by five distinct flavours garlic, spring onion, leek, wild rocambole and ginger. Ginger is an important element of Korean food. Fermented recipes are also included, these include pickled fish and pickled vegetables. Seafood is also regarded as highly important as Korea is surrounded on three sides by the sea. For ritual occasions rice cakes are an essential. The colour of the food is matched according to yin and yang in order to try and reach a balance.
