CAR-HOUSE SECOND FLOOR The second floor of the car house is composed of arranged in 29-ft. spans with brick arches. Thespacing of the I-beams is 7 ft. center to center, and thecarrying capacity was figured at no lb. live and dead loadper square foot. This floor originally was used for thestorage and repairs of the old-time light cars, and it wasnecessary to make it strong enough to carry the new 18-toncars. The old beams have been reinforced their fulllength by installing latticed girders 2 ft. 5 in. deep beneaththem.
