The Dolphin Chard in 1973 number 0042

A Grade 2 listed building, built in 1840 with a 19th century rear extension. Variously The Dolphin (this photo), The Dolphin Inn (photo from 2004 also on this site) and The Dolphin Hotel (when researched in 2020). This photo of The Dolphin is from 1973 when it was a Bass tied house and had the Bass Charrington toby jug on the Bass black 'coffin'. The flapping signs advertise accommodation and also grills. There is a menu in the window. The auctioneers to the right are Palmer, Snell & Co and their shop window advertises, the sale of 65 Cheap Street, Sherborne, the sale of live and dead farming stock on Thursday 25th October 1973 and the fact that Ham Bungalow at Combe St. Nicholas has been sold. In their shop window are reflections of The Provident Society and a Co-op milk float.
