A Daspletosaurus approaches a small group of Rubeosaurus dinosaurs.

A Daspletosaurus approaches a small group of Rubeosaurus males and females. Daspletosaurus and Rubeosaurus shared the same landscape between 76-74 million years ago. It is speculated that Daspletosaurus was a specialist in hunting ceratopsians while another tyrannosaur of the time, Gorgosaurus, preyed on Hadrosaurs. Enough different prey would allow two large carnivores to coexist in the same ecosystem.
