Rafflesia arnoldii the Corpse Flower named for having a putrid smell when in bloom the Rafflesia is a tropical flower inhabiting tropical rainforest


Rafflesia arnoldii is also known as the Devil's Betelnut Box and is the national flower of Indonesia. It is famous for producing the largest individual flower on earth and the diameter can reach an astonishing one meter (3 ft). Rafflesia arnoldii is a rare tropical plant however and not easy to locate as the buds take upto 9 months to develop before flowering and then the flower will last upto a week before decomposing rapidly.
