Parkinson's brain pacemaker. Computed tomography (CT) scan of an axial section through the head of a 54-year-old patient with Parkinson's disease with electrodes of a deep brain stimulator (DBS, not shown) implanted in the thalamic regions of the brain. The DBS 'brain pacemaker' sends electrical impulses to the electrodes implanted in the brain in order to stimulate (white, centre-left and right) those areas and help relieve the motor symptoms of Parkinson's disease.
