Nu- cleus 600 long, 405 broad, black, with fourteen sharp angles. Antheridium, 265 in diam., usually separate from the sporophydium on the same leaf or in different verticils. For the present, until the species can be studied in its fresh state and variations noted (all specimens of the present gathering present uniform characters), this must be known as Britten's Chara (Fig. 53)..
