From Russia. Fruit of fair quality. Tree is extremely hardy; valuable for the North, where other varieties cannot be grown. It has proven as hardy as a birch. Strong, vigorous grower. Beurre Clairgeau. Very large, pyriform; yel- low and red; nearly melting, high flavored. Tree a very good grower, and an early and abundant bearer; a magnificent market fruit. One of the finest acquisitions. October and November. Beurre d'Anjou. A large, fine pear, buttery and melt- ing, with spright- gg, ly, vinous flavor. II - Tree a fine grow- er and good bear- er.
