Nowhere do any temples appear, and possibly thiswarlike nation considered that they best honouredtheir god Nin (the Heracles of the Greeks) by fight-ing in the field ; but the general opinion is that thepalaces contained all the shrines, and were in realitypalace-temples. These palaces were always placedhigh upon artificial terraces, and so situated that thegreat city wall (tower broken and pierced with mass-ive gateways) formed the fortification of one or more P1A.
