Interior of iar, glazed, of cover, unglazed. • H Height, 5jj inches. 840— Wine Ewer {Kang Hsi) Elegant wine vessel with perfect handle, curved spout con-nected bv a delicate branch to neck, flanged mouth andflat cover. Coated with a deep brilliant glaze of the colorknown as powder-blue. This is probably an early piece,traces of the original gilt ornament remain. Interior andbase glazed white. A rare example of the class. Height, 7% inches. 341—MAZARixE-m-i E Vase (Tung Clung) Graceful elongated pear-shape, covered with an even coat-ing of brilliant deep-blue of the shade known as mazarine-blue. Rim of mouth shows the white interior glaze and *tonce merges into the blue. Base is glazed and has theImperial mark of six characters in double lined circle. Height, 9/4 inches. Second A fternoon. M—Laxc-yao Sano-sk-bkuf Dish with Mi:tai, Moi xtixg(Kaiig Hki) Shallow dish with wide rim mounted on three hold dragonSupports finely chased which, with rim and under dish, aremade of gilt brass. Contemporary metal mountings ofporcelain made by Chinese are very scarce, though oftenmade in Europe. Hani porcelain, covered with brilliantglaze of the sany-de-baeuf variety known as crushed straw-berry and with pleasing suggestion of ashes of rosesor peach-bloom.
