Bridge opening sequence 5 of 11 - Closing Ceremony for the South Park Bridge - June 30, 2010

Once closed to traffic, the bridge will be left in the open position until it is demolished in the fall of 2010. The South Park Bridge was closed permanently on June 30, 2010. The bridge is a double-leaf bascule bridge connects South Park's main business district to Seattle, near Boeing Field. The bridge was completed in 1931 and was closed due to its deterioration. The bridge was in already poor condition when it was damaged in the Nisqually earthquake in 2001.
