A flintlock shotgun by Wittemann, Gießen/Hesse, mid 18th century Two-stage barrel, octagonal then round after a cut girdle, smooth bore in 16 mm calibre, with silver spider front sight. Above the breech two stamped Spanish(?) marks. Lightly cut flintlock with rain-proof pan, the lock plate signed "WIETTEMANN A GIESSEN". Carved walnut half stock with horn nosepiece and wooden trigger guard. Brass barrel band, original (somewhat shortened) wooden ramrod with horn tip.
