The Gateway to the South. Last week's business proved to be fairly good. There was an active de- mand the entire week, that kept the wholesalers busy. Because of the large supply, prices were low; in fact, buyers' prices generally ruled. Shipping busi- ness is good. The rose supply continues large. The roses, too, are meeting with the best demand. The strictly summer roses sell easily, mostly at fair prices. Others are generally jobbed at any reasonable oflfer. The supply of Beauties is equal to the demand. The carnation supply is also large and the best of them sell only at low prices. The white and lighter shades find a fair call, while the darker colors, unless extra good, find no market at all. The gladiolus cut is increasing in size and some fine specimens are offered. Excellent peonies meet with only an ordinary demand. Valley has an unsteady market. Some fine sweet peas are coming to the wholesale houses. Pond lilies, though good, sell only fairly well. To the supply of green goods has been added huckleberry from the south,
