A newborn mouse cochlea (the auditory organ of the inner ear). Sensory hair cells are comprised along the cochlea. Bundles of stereocilia (green arcs), hair-like projections that rest on top of the hair cell, cause the hair cell to respond to sound. Supporting cells (blue and red) surround the hair cells.
