Steam train on Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway, Lake District National Park, Cumbria, England UK

The Lakeside and Haverwaithe Railway is the Lake District's only Standard Gauge Preserved Railway, going from Leven Valley from Haverthwaite Station to Lakeside at the foot of Windermere. The eight mile line was originally developed during the 1850s and 1860s to cope with the coal demands of the Industrial Revolution, and was officially opened in 1869. It fell into disrepair in subsequent years and was reopened after reconstruction in 1970.
