Dementia gardening therapy. Group of women at an allotment at part of a therapy session for those with dementia. The group includes women with dementia (left and right) and a social care worker (centre). Dementia is a general term for conditions that lead to changes in a person's ability to think, remember and function. The symptoms include memory loss, personality changes and confusion. Activities such as gardening can help stave off the effects of dementia. This allotment visit was arranged by the Kilmarnock Resource Centre, in Ayrshire, Scotland. This centre includes community-based support for those with a diagnosis of dementia, both under and over the age of 65. The resource centre offers a wide variety of groups and activities, as well as support from a dementia advisor and a dementia social worker. Photographed in 2016.
