Barnhurst Farm and Dovecote, Pendeford, Wolverhampton, c 1900. Barnhurst was an existing estate for centuries during which time the house was gradually expanded. until it and 300 acres of land was bought by Wolverhampton Corporation in 1867. Part of the land was then developed as a sewerage farm. This photograph shows the gatehouse (1602) and the octagonal 16th century dovecote of the early moated house.
