The many deplorable, so called, accidentseach year, where a person has been mistaken for a deer,and killed, induced the passage of the following law:Ch. 263. P. iQOi. Section i. Whoever while on a hunting trip, or inthe pursuit of wild game or game birds, negligently orcarelessly shoots and wounds, or kills any human being,shall be punished by imprisonment not exceeding tenyears, or by fine not exceeding one thousand 17 Section 2. It shall be the duty of the county attorneyand s-heriff in the county in whick a violation of theforegoing section occurs, to forthwith investigate andprosecute every person who therein violates the pro-visions of this act, and for failing so to investigate andprosecute, each of said officers shall be liable to a fine ofnot exceeding one thousand dollars, and to be removedfrom office. NON-RESIDENTS MUST EMPLOY 278, P. L. 1901. It shall be unlawful for non-residents of the state toenter upon the wild lands of the state with intent tocamp and kindle fires thereon, while engaged in hunt-ing or fishing, without being in charge of a registeredguide, during the months of May, June, July, August,September, October and November; provided, that theprovisions of this section so far as entering upon thewild lands in this state with intent to camp and kindlefires thereon while engaged in
