Tussock moth


Tussock moth (Penthophera morio), a member of the family Erebidae. The flight period is usually April to June. This species occurs in managed grasslands and is found mainly in southeastern parts of Central and Eastern Europe. The larvae feed on a wide range of grasses. Photographed in the Bulk Hills, Hungary, in May.
