A Italian heavy crossbow, circa 1600 Extremely heavy steel prod, with two deeply struck marks on top. Iron bridle, old twisted hemp bowstring. Long, two section tiller with a large iron stirrup on the front with two lugs. Iron and bone bolt groove. Original bone nut. Colored paint on all surfaces. The sides display scroll work, on the top a depiction of Venus and Cupid, and the bottom shows two nude male figures. Iron trigger guard with cut balusters. Length 162 cm. Length of the bow 95 cm.
