Paul Chryst, a B-17 bombardier with the 91st Bomb Group, paid about $16 to have "Times A-Wasting" and the 401st Bomb Squadron insigne, featuring Hairless Joe and Lonesome Polecat from the Lil' Abner comic strip, painted on this jacket. The bombs represent 35 missions, 30 over Germany and five over France.
