The hybrid perpetuals are considered the most valuable of all roses. They are chiefly distinguished for their vigorous growth and fine large flowers, and for being entirely hardy. They are par- ticularly valuable for permanent beds or borders in the northern or middle states. The flowers are large, often measuring five to six inches in diameter, very fragrant, and of all the colors known to the Rose. In our list of these grand flowers, we have endeavored to list only the very best and most hardy sorts, and such that we know will not disappoint our customers. Probably in no other plant, unless in Clematis, is there greater percentage of loss to the purchaser than in hardy roses.
