Rosa mundi rose (Rosa gallica 'Versicolour') bush. The darker pink stripes on the petals of this rose are known as irregular colour breaks and they occur as a result of unstable genes. The Rosa mundi rose grows as a large shrub, reaching two metres in height and one metre in width. Native to southern Europe, it has been grown in gardens since the sixteenth century.
