The flowers are fucceeded by aroundifh fruit, flat at top. The bark is very aro-matic, and as odoriferous as cinnamon. ThefeTrees grow in the remote and hilly parts of Caro-lina, but no where amongft the inhabitants. /TE T Arbriffeau s élevé ordinairement jufqua huit*-* ou dix pies de hauteur. Ses feuilles font opfoféesles unes aux autres. Ses fleurs reffembknt par leurfigure à celles de lanémone étoilée. Elles font compoféesde plufieurs feuilles roides, ^? couleur de cuivre, quirenferment une touffe de petites étamines jaunes. Illeur fuccede des fruits ronds, & applatis à leurs ex-trémités. Uècorce de cet Arbriffeau efl fort aroma-tique, & auffi odoriférante que la canelle. Il croitdans les endroits éloignés & montagneux de la Caro-line.
