Amsterdam, Holland: The wooden spiral staircase (1516) in Oude Kerk.
Amsterdam, Holland: The wooden spiral staircase in the Oude Kerk. Built in 1516, it originally stood in another part of the church. Now in the St. Sebastian Chapel, it is called the English Spiral Staircase and it leads to the church roof. (From Wikipedia: "The Oude Kerk ("old church") is Amsterdam’s oldest parish church, consecrated in 1306 by the bishop of Utrecht with Saint Nicolas as its patron saint. It stands in De Wallen, now Amsterdam's main red-light district. The square surrounding the church is the Oudekerksplein."
