The work of recon-struction must have been finished by 1185, for in thatyear Abbot Imbert was buried in the choir. At thebeginning of the thirteenth century the two easternbays were restored, their triforium was transformedand continued in the transept, and the fifth chapeladded in the north aisle. Later in the century AbbotRoubaud rebuilt the apse, with deambulatory andchapels, though the twelfth - century choir was asbroad as the Gothic apse, the first stone being laidin January, 1224, ^^ presence of the Consuls of thec
