Several hundred members and supporters of the NY Tech Meetup group protest outside the offices of US Senators Kirsten Gillibrand and Charles Schumer in New York on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 over legislation concerning online piracy. The demonstrators were against the proposed Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and the Protect IP Act (PIPA) which they feel will allow US authorities to shutdown websites that are accused of online piracy without due process and threatens the freedom of the internet.
