In the small Platyrhines (Midas, Jacchus) the oesophagus iscontinued a short way into the abdomen, and the stomachresembles that in Lemuridce: the duodenum becomes free inpassing to the left. The crecum is of moderate length, cylindrical, curved: two longitudinal bands are continued from it along thecolon. In Jacchus vulgaris the small intestines are twice thelength of the body, the large intestines once that length. Thecardiac sac of the stomach is large in all Platyrhines, but thecardia and pylorus are less approximate in the larger Ateles and Mycetes Cuvier notes a tendency to sacculationalong the great curvature. The cascum is 4 inches l
