He married Edna Wood, and theyhave two children, Eloise and Stanley. Mr. Cowan began voting as a young man in NewYork, casting his first presidential ballot for GroverCleveland in 1884. Since that time he has sup-ported the protective policy of the country and votesfor the republican presidential nominees. Numbered among theold settlers of Saco who have made their nameswell-known and honored in this region is ClarenceE. Broadbrooks, one of the extensive ranch operatorsof Phillips County. He was born in Decatur Coun-ty, Iowa, April 24, 1867, a son of John M. Broad-brooks, and a grandson of Henry Broadbrooks, thelatter a millwright and one of the men connectedwith the erection of early mills in both Missouriand Iowa. John M. Broadbrooks was born in New YorkState, but was taken during his infancy to Ohioby his parents, and the family residence was main-tained in the latter state for ten years, when oncemore it was changed and settlement was made inMissouri, on the line bet
