Priene was an ancient Greek city refunded and flourishing in the 4th century BC in the west of nowadays Turkey. Some 6000 people lived in the settlement with two deep water harbors which is now situated inland. The theater was built in the 4th century BC and has seating for 5000 people in 50 rows. Priene war eine Stadt im alten Griechenland, die im 4. Jahrhundert vor Christus wieder gegründet wurde und rasch aufblühte. 6000 Einwohner lebten in dieser Siedlung mit zwei Tiefwasserhäfen, die längst verlandet sind. Heute liegt Priene einige Kilometer landeinwärts. Das Theater wurde im vierten Jahrhundert vor Christus erbaut und bot 5000 Zuschauern in 50 Sitzreihen Platz.
