Roan Edge is owned by Cemex UK. After several fallow years the quarry became active again in 2006, after being granted planning permission to deepen and extend the quarry. The quarry produces high-performance gritstone for use in road building. The supply of high PSV (polished stone value) aggregates is critical to the road construction industry. In the background are the Howgill Fells and the M6 Motorway.
