Entitled: "Skull Crowned with Snakes and Flowers, The Duchess of Malfi." The Duchess of Malfi (originally published as The Tragedy of the Dutchesse of Malfy) is a macabre, tragic play written by the English dramatist John Webster in 1612-33. Keen worked as a printmaker and illustrator in the 1920s and 1930s, creating unsettling symbolist images reminiscent of Aubrey Beardsley. Pen and ink by Henry Weston Keen, 1930s.
