Colonel Baldwin was a son of Loammi and Mary (Fowle) Baldwin,llis father was a distinguished citizen of Woburn, and served in the Revo-hitionary War as the colonel of a regiment. He was much interested intlie cultivation of fruit, and to him we are indebted for the Mell-knownBaldwin apple, ^vhich he perfected and brought into use.
