Cassiopeia constellation and Andromeda. Optical image of the stars of the constellation of Cassiopeia and the galaxy Andromeda (M31), seen in the night sky of the Northern Hemisphere. Cassiopeia consists of five bright stars forming a zig-zag 'M' shape at upper centre. The spiral galaxy of Andromeda, in the constellation of the same name, is the fuzzy object just lower right of centre. M31, the largest of the Local Group of galaxies, is around million light years distant. It contains hundreds of billions of stars.
