Virgin Trains East Coast service arrives at Newcastle railway station with a service for London Kings Cross, on the 5th April 2017. Today, 28th June 2017, it was announced by the RMT Union that the East Coast franchise was unprofitable as shares in Stagecoach Group, who own a 90% share in the East Coast route, dropped on the stock market.
