Vicomte de Chateaubriand


Francois Rene, vicomte de Chateaubriand, was a French writer politician and diplomat. He was born in 1768 and died in 1848. Chateaubriand is credited as the founder of Romanticism in French literature. It was he, a lover of food and cooking, who named a cut of tenderloin the Chateaubriand steak.
