Sydney, AUSTRALIA - July 16, 2015: The Data Arena has been opened to the media at the University of Technology, Sydney's Engineering and IT building in Sydney, Australia on July 16, 2015. The Data Arena is a 360-degree 3D interactive data visualisation facility which will allow researchers and students to visually organise 'big data' in ways that traditional data processing methods do not allow. Up to twenty participants are able to use the Arena at one time, by standing in the middle of a large cylindrical screen which is four metres high and ten metres in diameter. Data Arena academic staff Ben Simons and Darren Lee, were joined by Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research, Prof. Glenn Wightwick to test the Arena during the unveiling.
