'Prince Edward, later King Edward VI', c1540, (1902). The son of Henry VIII and Jane Seymour, Edward VI (1537-1553) became king in 1547 when just 9 years old. His rule was characterised by harsh Protestant reform. He died, probably of tuberculosis, in his teens.
