To either side of the principal valley and beyondthe narrow range of sand bluffs the surface broadens out intothe wide plains, upon which the native grasses grow inabundance, providing pasture for cattle, sheep and horses,upon which they feed the year around. From those pasturesgreat numbers of these animals are shipped and drivenannually both to the market and to the northern states forfeeding. Because of the mildness of the climate and theabundant growth of grasses, the region embraced within thelimits of Roosevelt county is rightly considered a part ofnatures breeding
