Any committee may purchase atcost, from the clearing house materialswhich may be made up, by their ownworkers, into clothing or hospital sup-plies. Buying in Bulk Or the second way of purchasing maybe followed. That is, a small committeemay send a designated donation to anyone of the three large committees: tothe Red Cross for the purchase of hospi-tal supplies, food and clothing; to thecommission for food and clothing—thisfall chiefly for a special diet for Belgianchildren; and to the clearing house forsupplies of any kind. But as a general rule the local com-mittees, those that have the interest ofsmall groups of people, and that pur-chase in variety and in quite small quan-tities will doubtless find it more economi-cal of time and money to gather up theirsupplies from their own vi
