Liles, a Billings, Montana native, began her career working for the Department of Defense in 1983 with her initial job as a clerk-typist at Fort Ord, California in 1983. Liles was openly candor with her appreciation at the command for observing those with disabilities, yet also revealing that over the years she has experienced discrimination and challenges due to having a disability. She's not alone. According to the United States Census Bureau, there are million – or percent of the total civilian (noninstitutionalized) population – with a disability in the Of that total, million from age 18 to 64 with a disability are employed.
