Malaria Cycle, Illustration
Illustration of malaria cycle. 1. Sporozoites travel through blood vessel. 2. Sporozites enter liver cells and become schizonts. 3. Liver cells rupture sending schizonts into blood cells. 4. Some schizonts continue the cycle, while others develop into gametocytes. 5. Via blood, male and female gametocytes are transferred into feeding mosquitoes. 6. Inside the mosquito, gametocytes combine to become oocysts. 7. Oocysts rupture, releasing sporozites beginning the cycle again.
