Mr. Whitney was of an inventive race, being fourth cousin to Eli Whit-ney, inventor of the cotton gin. and his five sons were all ingenious, and more or less identified with the manufacture or sale of musical the organs built by the Whitneys may be mentioned two for the Ashby churches, others for the C.
