Pinned collar bone fracture. Coloured X-rays of the frontal (top) and back (bottom) views of a metal plate and screws in the clavicle (collar bone) in a female patient's right shoulder. The spine is at right and the scapula (shoulder blade) is seen below the clavicle. The metal plate has been surgically screwed into the clavicle to join the fractured ends of bone and immobilise it. The broken shoulder will be rested to allow the bone and soft tissues to heal. It is important that a joint or bone is correctly aligned if it is to heal properly and avoid future complications.
