Dandy-line. offering sufficient attraction to the fish. This Hue is employed for catching herrings to be used as bait for the cod-lines, and appears to be effective only when the herrings are tolerably numerous close to the ground about the spawning season. It is probable that not much direct advantage is derived from this method of fishing as it is not in very general use. The name "dandy"-line is not very intelligible;.
