The only shop and post office on the Shetland Island of Fetlar at Houbie with person standing in front

Fetlar is one of the smallest Shetland islands 7 miles long by 5 miles wide. There are currently around 60 people living on the island. Known as The Garden of Shetland, Fetlar is a green fertile land of rich pastures, much of which is farmed. The coastline varies from low sand beaches to high rugged cliffs and stacks. It was the home of the Sir William Watson Cheyne, assistant to Lord Lister in the pioneering Victorian development of antiseptic surgery.
