Blue, Paradise or Stanley Crane (Anthropoides paradisea). Adult facing right, standing on one leg (left one). Joint in the centre is the 'ankle ' or intertarsal joint; ie NOT the knee. Right leg is lifted and raised from the ankle down to toe or digit nail tips. True knee joint is hidden by breast and wing plumage. At rest a bird's weight is supported by one leg alternating with the other.
