A silver-mounted Ottoman yatagan, dated 1841 The blade with two fullers on each side next to the back of the blade, and a forged-on steel edge. The maker's signature and date, "1257" (= 1841) is inlaid in silver on the reverse side with a star-shaped cartouche on the obverse side. Gilt filigree grip strap set with coral. Intact riveted walrus ivory grip scales. Wooden scabbard covered in the middle with velvet and with heavy silver mountings embossed with floral designs. The chape has a monster head drag.
