A female osprey sits on her nest atop a light pole, May 22, 2021, in Biloxi, Mississippi. Female ospreys lay between one and four eggs — typically three — in April or May. They tend to construct their nests atop dead trees, light poles, and other objects and use the nest year after year. The nests, which tend to contain mainly sticks, can become up to 10 feet high as materials are added each season.
