Dr. Speese spoke of theprognosis based on histological examination. This may be pos-sible if the tumor contains many giant cells, but when dealingwith neoplasms composed of round or spindle cells the methodbecomes of doubtful value; it is probable that in these cases theoutcome depends largely upon the resistance of the the paramandibular tissues are not involved early, afact depending upon the architecture of the jaw, the periostealand intra-osteal tissues acting as a filter that resists extensionof the growth.
